Wheel thrown porcelain mug with mishima, a traditional surface design technique achieved by incising or carving fine lines into leather-hard clay then inlaying a slip (liquid clay) of a contrasting color into the lines. The excess slip is then removed to reveal a drawing inlaid into the clay.
